Study on the influence of SiO2 nanofluid on the performance of oil-based drilling fluid
Oil-based drilling fluid is widely used in drilling due to its high-temperature resistance, resistance to salt and calcium invasion, good lubricity, and benefits for wellbore stability. The effects of adding different mass fractions(0.5%-2%)of SiO2 nanofluid to oil-based drilling fluid on its viscosity, rheological properties, filtration loss, friction and other properties are studied. The results indicate that the addition of nanoparticles to oil-based drilling fluid has a significant impact on the performance of the drilling fluid.Even at low nanofluid mass fractions, the physical and chemical parameters of oil-based drilling fluid will be significantly improved, indicating that the application of nanoparticles can become the research direction for improving the performance of oil-based drilling fluid.
