An Investigation on Xu Xusheng's Academic Direction from the Perspective of Central Plain Culture
Xu Xusheng is a famous Chinese historian and archaeologist.In his early years,he received tradi-tional education systematically in Zhengzhou city,which is located in the cultural hinterland of the central plain.In his youth,he studied philosophy as his major in France,and then engaged in philosophy research and teaching after returning to China.He has long been concerned about the situation of Chinese cultural heritage and participated in the protection and investigation,and finally established his academic direction,that is,the archaeology and ancient history study.From philosophy to archaeology,Xu Xusheng chooses his academic direction in response to the social changes,as one of the typical examples of modern scholars adjusting and giving full play to their professional capa-bility.When investigating this transition systematically in depth,it is not difficult to find that the subtle influence of traditional culture,especially the central plain culture,is an important factor for this transition process.
