Current Medical Knowledge about Perimesencephalic Nonaneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
Perimesencephalic nonaneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage is a special type of subarachnoid hemor-rhage.The incidence of PNSH is about 0.5 per 100,000 person-years,men are more often affected,and no risk factors were confirmed.Computed tomography angiography is the preferred diagnostic strategy.Studies on the risk factors,pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of PNSH differ from domestic and overseas.Compared with aneurys-mal SAH,PNSH has mild clinical symptoms,transient and rare complications.Long-term outcome is excellent with respect to disability and death.This article provides a comprehensive review of epidemiology,risk factors,etiology and pathogenesis,diagnosis,clinical manifestations,treatment,and prognosis of PNSH.
