The Historical Evolution and Logical Expansion of"Centre"in"Central Plain"
In the historical process of the evolution of Chinese civilization,there exist both"constant"and"change"."Constant"is the essential law,and"change"is the innovated development.In the"constant",the op-portunity of"change"has been bred there;and in the"change",the"constant"is also contained.To reveal the es-sential characteristics of the evolution of Chinese civilization,we should,as the only measure for it,investigate the law of its innovative development.And only in this way,can we better respond to the innumerable changes of the world with invariant change in the new era,and come up with the solutions to the problems of China,and to the problems in the development of human society."Constant and change"can be summarized by the word of"centre"(Zhong)."Constant"means"fairness","moderation",and"neutralization",while"change"means"crossing through".The concept of"centre"(Zhong)developed from the"central plain"in geography and in politics,and then rose from the cultural level to the philosophical generalization:from"centre"to"the middle way"—"modera-tion","fairness","neutralization",and"crossing through".In a word,the"centre"(Zhong)in"central plain"is the root of Chinese culture.
