The Effect of Social Support on the Academic Emotion of the Migrant Workers'Children:the Mediating Role of Self-Concept
In order to understand the impact of self-concept on the academic emotion of migrant workers'children and explore the role of social support in it,we conduct an investigation on 385 migrant workers'children in the cities of Hebi,Xinzheng,and Xinxiang in Henan province,using the social support rating scale,Tennessee self-concept scale,and the academic emotion rating scale.When processing the questionnaire,25 invalid questionnaires are deleted,and 360 valid questionnaires are finally obtained.The result of the research shows that:(1)the dimen-sions of the positive low arousal and negative high arousal in the migrant workers'children are significantly different in different genders(t=3.026,p<0.05;t=1.974,p<0.05),the dimension of objective social support for the mi-grant workers'children is significantly different in different grades(F=8.096,P<0.01);(2)there is a positive correlation between the social support and self-concept(r=0.655,P<0.01)and academic emotion(r=0.165,P<0.01)in the migrant workers'children,and there is a positive correlation between self-concept and academic emotion(r=0.257,P<0.01).(3)self-concept plays a complete mediating role in the relationship between so-cial support and academic emotion of migrant workers'children,with a direct effect of-0.278,and a 95%confi-dence interval of(0.919,-0.567).The conclusion:the social support for migrant workers'children has a positive predictive effect on their academic emotion,and all the effect may be realized through their self-concept.
