维柯的《新科学》对奥尔巴赫的文学研究影响甚巨,在《摹仿论》中,奥尔巴赫借鉴维柯的研究方法,从具体而微的文体分析出发,深入考察西方精神史;在维柯整全的历史观的影响下,他以文体分用传统与文体混用传统的对立为线索,勾勒出两千多年来西方文学对现实的呈现的整全图景及其背后的精神史走向.更重要的是,维柯的"共同人性"之理念成为奥尔巴赫反抗纳粹主义的思想资源.
Abstract
Giambattista Vico's La Scienza Nuova had a profound influence on Auerbach's literary studies.In Mimesis,Auerbach borrowed Giambattista Vico's research methods and gained a profound insight into western intellectual history via careful stylistic analysis.Under the influence of Vico's general view of history,he sketched a whole picture of Western literature in the past two thousand years and the trend of intellectual history behind it.More importantly,Vico's idea of"common humanity"became a weapon of Auerbach to fight against Nazism.
