Research Progress on UV-A Ultraviolet Absorbent Avobenzone
Avobenzone(AVB)is an efficiently and safely sunscreen, and also the most commonly used UV-A absorbers, which has been widely used in skin care products, such as sunscreen, cosmetics and lotion, due to its ability to absorb broad-spectrum UV-A and significantly reduce skin damage. However,on exposure to sunlight(ultraviolet light),both of photoisomerisation and photodegradation of AVB yields products, which can't absorb in the UV-A range, leading to reduce sunscreen efficacy and quality.Meanwhile, some photoproducts have the potential of causing harm to human health and environment.Based on these results, researchers have studied the photochemistry and photophysics of AVB.We here in review and summary the research progress in AVB during recent two decades. The structure characteristics of AVB was reviewed, including influencing factors of photostability. The research advance in human health and environmental impact of AVB is also summarized. We put forward the existing problems of research on AVB at present and direction in the future. This review will provide the basis and reference for development of efficient and photostability sunscreen products.
