Research Progress in Valuable Metal Recovery from Cathode Materials of Used Lithium-Ion Batteries
With the rapid development of the Lithium-ion batteries new energy vehicle industry,a large number of used Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)containing valuable metals have entered the decommissioning period. At present, the pretreatment methods and valuable metals recycling technology for used LIBs are faced with the problems such as large energy consumption and insufficient generalization of battery types. This paper introduces the life cycle, composition and failure mechanism of LIBs,and summarizes the current situation of pretreatment and valuable metal recycling technology of the used LIBs at home and abroad. The shortcomings of discharge, disassembly and separation processes in current pretreatment technologies are summarized, and the advantages and disadvantages of hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgical recovery processes in valuable metal recycling technologies are analyzed. The research direction for the pretreatment method and valuable metal recycling technologies of the used LIBs are proposed.
