Recent Progress in Catalysts for the Hydrogenation of Carbon Dioxide to Methanol
With the continuous growth of global energy consumption and the increasingly serious environmental pollution problem, finding a clean and efficient CO2 utilization path has become a research hotspot.Because of its wide use, methanol is not only an important chemical raw material, but also a new type of clean energy. The process of CO2 catalytic hydrogenation to methanol not only achieves CO2 emission reduction, but also is one of the effective ways to recycle carbon resources, which is of great significance to solve energy shortage and environmental problems. The development of catalysts with high activity, selectivity and stability for hydrogenation of CO2 to methanol has been the core technology of this process. This paper reviews the research progress in carbon dioxide hydrogenation to methanol, mainly introduces the reaction mechanism and catalyst, and focuses on the influence of the active site, support and additives on the catalytic performance of Cu-based catalyst. Finally, the application prospect of CO2 hydrogenation to methanol is prospected.
