Synthesis and characterization of hydroxyl-terminated ethylene oxide-tetrahydrofuran copolyether
The hydroxyl-terminated ethylene oxide-tetrahydrofuran copolyether(PET)was prepared by ring-opening copolymerization of ethylene oxide(EO)and tetrahydrofuran(THF)using phosphotungstic acid as catalyst and 1,4-butanediol(BDO)as initiator. The structure and performance of the products were characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectrum, nuclear magnetic resonance hydrogen spectrum(1H-NMR),gel permeation chromatogram(GPC)and differential scanning calorimeter(DSC).The experimental results showed that the relative molecular mass of the copolyether products was in the range of 806~3 815,the molecular weight distribution index was in the range of 1.21~1.66,and the glass transition temperature was below-80 ℃.The light-colored and transparent products were obtained through the post-treating steps of extraction, static sedimentation, adsorption, water washing and so on.The polyurethane elastomer with ideal mechanical performance was synthesized using PET as raw material.
