The twentieth and twenty-second chapters in"Xi Nian"record that the three Jin dynasties and Yue at-tacked Qi twice and won both times.The three Jin dynasties destroyed the Zhi family and followed up on their victory.Meanwhile,Yue also aimed to control the north.Therefore,both sides united to attack Qi for the first time due to a com-mon goal.The second attack by the three Jin dynasties on Qi occurred because of Qi's internal disorder,providing an op-portunity for the three Jin dynasties,who needed external expansion.From the perspective of the three Jin dynasties'pur-pose in attacking Qi and the subsequent development situation,status was still the primary pursuit of the kingdoms.The three Jin dynasties being called Hou not only broke the customary class division among the emperor,princes,ministers,and scholar bureaucrats but also further negated title-granting based on blood kinship.Meanwhile,it promoted the estab-lishment of a ruling structure based on political relations.
