The Adverse Effects of Intergenerational Education on Urban Children's Socialization:A Comparative Study Based on Field Experience in a Community in City Z
The negative impact of intergenerational education on children's socialization has been a significant focus in child socialization studies.Existing research primarily concentrates on rural left-behind children in China, overlooking its effects on urban children. This paper addresses this gap by utilizing long-term field research data on children's social-ization in a large community in Z City.By comparing the development trends of children's socialization in two groups-those under intergenerational education and parent-child education-it finds that urban children under intergenerational education exhibit delayed development in language expression, poor self-care abilities, weaker self-awareness in social activities, and a more pronounced tendency towards aggressive behavior.Four negative socialization tendencies are identi-fied:disrespect for others and public order. This article argues that the unhealthy educational practices of ancestors, such as excessive indulgence, tolerance, and neglect of children's ability development, are the main reasons for these negative social tendencies among urban children.
