Built Canals and Dredged Spring:A Brief Discussion on the Water Conservancy Construction in Dunhuang from Yongzheng to Qianlong Period
This article is based on an academic review of the development process of Dunhuang during the Qing Dy-nasty and further discusses the specific measures in the water conservancy development process of Dunhuang from the Yongzheng to Qianlong periods.During this time,with military actions in the northwest,the imperial government redevel-oped Dunhuang,which had not been built upon for nearly two hundred years.The Qing government and local authorities dredged and constructed channels to meet the needs of immigrants and farming,eventually forming the Ten Canals of Dun-huang for irrigation.The increase in irrigation water reduced the remaining water in the Danghe River,making the water shortage problem increasingly prominent.In the early years of the Qianlong period,Chang Jun attempted to dredge the spring to increase the flow but ultimately failed.
