Walking on Hexi Corridor Zhangtou Puppet Show:Case Study Zhangtou Puppet Show of Zhangye Shaojia Groupe in Gansu
Puppet shows have a long history in China.The Zhangtou Puppet Show was introduced to the Zhangye area of the Hexi Corridor from Shaanxi during the Ming Dynasty.The Shao family's Zhangtou Puppet Show Troupe,based in Shangzhai County,Dangzhai Town,Ganzhou District of Zhangye,is the only family-inherited puppet troupe in the Hexi region.It has been recognized as part of the second batch of the"Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection List"of Gansu Province.This study aims to explore and document the historical origins,past and present status,artistic characteristics,and innovative inheritance strate-gies of the Shao family's Zhangtou Puppet Show.It seeks to draw attention from experts,scholars,and society at large to better protect,preserve,and develop this unique folk-art form.
