Decaborane modified JP-10 fuel and its physicochemical properties
In recent years, the development of new high-performance aircraft has put forward higher requirements for high calorific value fuels. In this paper, decaborane was used for modification to further improve the calorific value of JP-10.The solubility of decaborane in JP-10 was improved by introducing surfactants, and modified JP-10 fuels with different decaborane contents were obtained. The results show that the density of JP-10 fuel containing 4%decaborane decreases by 0.004 g·cm-3,the viscosity increases by 0.294 mPa·s,and the specific heat capacity increases by 0.54 J·g-1·℃-1 at 25℃.The addition of decaborane significantly increased the calorific value of JP-10,and the maximum calorific value reached 49.88 MJ·kg-1.Under the same conditions, the maximum specific impulse with liquid oxygen can be increased by 2.92 s.The surface tension of JP-10 fuel containing 4%decaborane decreased by 3.174 mN·m-1 at 20℃,showing good atomization performance. This study provides an important experimental and theoretical basis for the development of new high calorific value fuels.
