Synthesis and characterization of 4,4'-di(2-hydroxy-4-methyl-1-azobenzene)benzene sulfonylanilide
Azo dyes are important compounds used for fiber dyeing. In this work,4,4'-diaminobenzenesulphanilide(DASA)was converted to diazonium salt, and then coupled with 3-methylphenol under certain conditions to produce a new compound,4,4'-di(2-hydroxy-4-methyl-1-azobenzene)benzene sulfonylanilide. The optimization reaction conditions:the molar ratio of aromatic amine to sodium nitrite was 1∶2.6,the molar ratio of diazonium salt to 3-methylphenol was 1∶1,the reaction time was 45 min,the reaction temperature was 0-5℃and the pH was 9.The yield can reach 86.2%under the optimized reaction conditions. Finally, the product was characterized by HPLC-MS and 1H NMR,and the results showed that the target compound was successfully synthesized.
