Investigation on reducing the lignin content and enhancing the capacity of smoking agent for the sliver by a solvothermal method
In order to increase the capacity of smoking agent of reconstituted tobacco sheet for heated tobacco product and reduce its lignin content,a solvothermal method using propyl glycol and glycerol as solvents was applied.Techniques including GC-FID,FTIR and SEM were employed to characterize the obtained the fresh and treated sliver samples. It was found that 53%-63% of lignin was eliminated using different ratio of propyl glycol and glycerol as solvent.Furthermore, the highest of 8.8% propyl glycol and 33.9% glycerol were reserved in sliver samples.More importantly,a heated tobacco product sample was produced with the treated sliver using rolling method without adding extra smoking agent, which shows considerable amount of aerosol. The developed pretreatment of sliver provides a promising technology for production of reconstituted tobacco sheet for heated tobacco product.
