Research progress on the synthesis and structural chemistry of thorium and polyoxometalate
The synthesis chemistry of polyoxometalates forms the foundation of polyoxometalate research. While the synthesis of polyoxometalate metal derivatives primarily focuses on 3d,4d,and 4f metal elements, progress in the synthesis chemistry of 5f actinide elements has been relatively slow.Different types of polyoxometalates, such as Lindqvist-type,Keggin-type,and Dawson-type structures, when combined with thorium, can result in diverse topological structures, thus enhancing the synthesis and structural chemistry of polyoxometalates. This article mainly summarizes recent progress in the synthesis and structural chemistry of thorium,a 5f element, with polyoxometalates, and offers an outlook on its future development prospects.
