Research on the Performance of Low Toxic Urea-formaldehyde Resin Modified by Corn Starch
A low toxic urea-formaldehyde resin was modified by starch, and a focused research on the effect of starch ratio on the properties of urea-formaldehyde resin was presented.Through the analysis evaluation of the mechanical properties of plywood, the optimal preparation technology of urea-formaldenyde resin was determined. The experimental results showed that with the increase of corn starch content, the viscosity of ureaformaldehyde resin increased, and the curing time tended to rise firstly and then fall, and finally rise again. The corn starch could effectively reduce the free formaldehyde content, and improved the bonding strength and the comprehensive mechanical properties;and the appropriate corn starch dosage was 2% to 2.5%.
