Preparation and Performance Evaluation of Hydrophobic Association Polymer Fracturing Fluid Thickener
The molecular structure of a thickener for fracturing fluid is designed, the acrylamide and acrylic acid are selected as the main chain monomers,l-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone and quaternary ammonium salt cations is used as hydrophilic and hydrophobic monomers respectively. The polymer-ization reactions are initiated with a mixture of redox and diazo systems to synthesize a high-performance HPCP fracturing fluid thickener. The struc-ture is characterized and analyzed by combining the infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance. The synthesis conditions for synthesizing hydrophobic monomers and thickeners are optimized, and the performance evaluation of the fracturing fluid system is conducted. The results show that the thickener is a quaternary copolymer with good temperature resistance, shear resistance, viscoelasticity, sand carrying capacity and gel breaking and flowback properties. The optimal synthesis conditions are showed as follows:the reaction temperature is 35 ℃,the pH level is 7,the reaction time is 6 h,the initiator dosage is 0.4%(wt),and the hydrophobic monomer dosage is 1.5%(wt).
