Nutrient structure and temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of kelp aquaculture areas in Rongcheng
The nutrient status of three kelp aquaculture areas in Rongcheng Bay,Ailian Bay,and Sanggou Bay was surveyed from November 2022 to July 2023.The nutrient structure and potential eutrophication of seawater in aquaculture areas were assessed by analyzing the temporal and spatial distribution of nutrient concentrations and evaluating the pollution levels of inorganic nitrogen(DIN)and active phosphate(PO4-P)via single-factor contami-nant indices. The results showed that while the overall nutritional level of seawater was low,the water quality in the three kelp aquaculture areas was good.Only a few aquaculture areas in winter have water quality exceeding the Class Ⅱ standard for seawater.During winter, two of the stations showed potential eutrophication, while the re-maining stations exhibited oligotrophication.Nutrient structure analysis revealed the degree of relative phosphorous limitation in kelp aquaculture areas.Nutrient levels in kelp aquaculture areas have obvious seasonal variation char-acteristics,with the highest DIN concentrations in winter and autumn and the lowest in spring and summer. The seasonal variation trend of PO4-P and active silicate(SiO3-Si)were consistent, with autumn, winter, spring, and summer in descending order. The horizontal distribution of nutrient levels in each aquaculture area was similar in autumn but differed in other seasons due to differences in aquaculture structures and the degree of seawater ex-change.
