As a cultural ambassador committed to promoting traditional Chinese culture,Chiang Yee broke new ground in English trav-el writing by overseas Chinese authors.His first travelogue,The Silent Traveller in Lakeland,uses travel as a clue to angrily condemn the destruction of the human living environment caused by war,expose the evil nature of war,and present a strong anti war ideology.The anti war ideology in The Silent Traveller in Lakeland is related not only to the tense war situation at that time,but also to the tradi-tional Chinese cultural education received by the author.The anti war writing in The Silent Traveller in Lakeland is of great signifi-cance,as it not only expresses the author's stance on seeking common ground among heterogeneous cultures,but also expresses the au-thor's yearning for world peace,and reflects the author's strong patriotism.
