In her novel Primeval and Other Times,Olga Tokarczuk engages in a nostalgic writing of"Primeval",a homeland imbued with layers of stories. This act of writing serves as a significant means of reconstructing Polish national identity and rediscovering the roots of Polish culture.Firstly, the novel constructs a poetic, primordial utopia through geography and space, evoking feelings of home and belonging.Secondly,by tracing the history and memory of the homeland, the novel not only reveals the genuine pain of displace-ment experienced by the Polish people but also deepens their national identity and cultural recognition. Finally,by depicting the de-cline of the ancient homeland under modernization, the novel reflects Tokarczuk's anxieties and reflections on the human condition, conveying her critique and observation of contemporary issues.
