The rich traditional settlements are an important component of excellent traditional Chinese cultural heritage,and have sig-nificant social and economic development value in the new stage of high-quality development.It is of great significance to explore the cultural characteristics of traditional settlement landscapes from the perspective of geographic information cognition and knowledge ser-vices.The theory of traditional settlement landscape genes has unique application value in revealing the cultural characteristics of tradi-tional settlement landscapes.In response to the fact that this theory has not yet covered geographic knowledge services,this article sys-tematically explores relevant theories and methods:(1)The basic characteristics of landscape gene geographic information are ex-plained from the perspective of geographic information cognition,the concept of landscape gene geographic information feature parame-ters is summarized,and corresponding formal description methods are constructed.(2)The basic characteristics of geographic knowl-edge contained in landscape genes are clarified and the expression methods of geographic knowledge in landscape genes are analyzed.(3)The concept of landscape gene geographic knowledge graphs was proposed and its scientific connotation was analyzed.(4)The con-struction method of landscape gene geographic knowledge graphs are analyzed.The research results indicate that incorporating tradi-tional settlement landscape genes into the scientific scope of geographic information resources and clarifying the knowledge graphs of landscape genes are beneficial for providing traditional settlement landscape gene knowledge services for urgently needed fields such as cultural tourism,rural revitalization,and smart countryside.In the future,it is necessary to strengthen the exploration of relevant the-ories and technical methods.The research work in this article has positive reference significance for the protection of traditional settle-ments,the inheritance and development of excellent traditional Chinese culture,and humanistic GIS in China.
