An evaluation of coastal zone economic resilience and its impact on the TFP of marine enterprises
Research on the resilience of the coastal zone economy(RCZE)and the Total Factor Productivity(TFP)of marine enterprises are crucial for promoting high-quality development of the marine economy.Due to the lack of micro-level data on marine enterprises, this issue has not been quantitatively explored. This paper innovatively processes national enterprise tax survey data based on industry classification codes to select marine enterprise data and calculate their TFP.Simultaneously, based on the quantitative assessment of RCZE in coastal regions, the paper matches the two datasets to empirically examine the impact and internal mechanism of RCZE on TFP of marine enterprises, yielding the following conclusions:First, from 2006 to 2021,China's RCZE generally showed an upward trend, with the strongest in the southern, followed by the eastern, and the weakest in the northern.During the financial crisis, the southern exhibited the strongest RCZE.During the COVID-19 pandemic, the east demonstrated greater RCZE.Second, the enhancement of RCZE in a region promotes the improvement of TFP in marine enterprises, with the key mechanism being the increase in enterprise innovation investment.Third,in regions with higher degrees of marketization and digitalization,RCZE more effectively enhances the TFP of marine enterprises.
