RESEARCH PROGRESS ON IMMUNE REGULATION AND MICROBIAL INTERACTION OF ECHINODERMS DURING REPRODUCTION
Echinoderms are one of the main deuterostomias and have essential evolutionary position. As important aquaculture species in China, sea cucumber and sea urchin have notable economic and nutritional values.Immunity plays an important role in animal growth, development, and reproduction, and microorganisms play a vital role in host immune regulation.Reproduction is a vital life history stage of animals, during which, animals will experience a series of physiological function declines, including decreased immunity. This article reviews the research progress on the nonspecific immune types of echinoderms, the microbial groups involved in echinoderm immunity, the immune regulation of echinoderms during the reproductive period and the synergistic effects of microorganisms, and looks forward to the research direction and application prospects of echinoderm immune responses, providing examples and references for the future research and application of immune regulation of echinoderms during the reproductive period.
