THE INFLUENCE OF ACTIVITY RANGE ON THE MOVEMENT PATTERNS OF ORYZIAS LATIPES
Heavy-tail distribution widely exists in various biological movement patterns in the nature, and varies with the environmental diversity. To adapt to the living environment, fish often choose more efficient movement patterns.Using fish Oryzias latipes as the research subject, its movement patterns were studied indoor by filming at water depth of 5 cm in different ranges(1.0 m×1.0 m,0.6 m×0.6 m,0.4 m×0.4 m,0.2 m×0.2 m,and 0.1 m×0.1 m).The movement tracks of O.latipes were converted into concrete data using MATLAB software, and the movement pattern of O.latipes was analyzed in movement speed, acceleration, run length and radius of curvature. The lognormal distribution was used for fitting the probability density values of the movement data. Results show that the heavy-tail distribution was inhibited in the movement pattern of O.latipes in the smaller range, and the degree of inhibition was directly related to the size of the range, specifically, the randomness of all the data decreased with the reduction of activity range. This study provided a new perspective for understanding fish behavior and exploring the impact of activity range on fish movement behavior.
