Zhangdu's Xuanshi Zhi and the Mentality of Scholars in the Early Period of Late Tang Dynasty:Research on The Theme of Eunuch Dictatorship
In the early period of late Tang Dynasty,the problem of eunuchs'dictatorship became increasingly serious,the harsh politi-cal environment has seriously squeezed the living space of the civil service group dominated by Confucian scholars,the occurrence of the"Ganlu Incident"further led to a significant change in the mentality of a generation of scholars,the proactive political mindset was transformed into a holistic approach to avoiding disasters and maintaining safety.This change is reflected in the poetry and novels of scholars.Zhangdu's Xuanshi Zhi recorded many stories related to civilian officials who were killed in the"Ganlu Incident",which manly shows the attitude of scholars towards the issue of eunuchs'dictatorship,and reflects the changes of their mentality of scholars in the late Tang Dynasty.
