On Aigu's Marrige Dilemma and Ineffective Resistance
Aigu was a controversial characteristic.As a married woman,she was abandoned by her husband.Still,she refused to di-vorce,resisted,and was forced to divorce in the predicament of family,society,and self,and eventually became the victim of arranged marriage.Many people are confused by Aigu's resistance.The purpose of her resistance is only to maintain her legal status and rights in the arranged marriage.Therefore,she is neither the daughter of Xinhai nor the daughter of the May Fourth Movement,but still the daughter of Old China.Lu Xun did not portray Aigu as a positive image,nor eulogized her spirit of resistance,but mourned her misfor-tune and was angry at her non-contention.
