社会资本对工资的影响分析——基于搜寻动力减弱的视角

一般认为,在工作搜寻中社会资本有利于提高求职者的工资水平,但基于CGSS数据的研究却发现了相反的结论:在其他因素相同的情况下,平均而言,那些托关系找工作的人的工资水平比自己找工作的低出近10%.进一步的机制分析表明,托关系找工作会降低人们的工作搜寻努力程度,限制了人力资本与适配岗位的潜在匹配空间,使人力资本回报水平受损.传统研究多认为社会资本的圈层效应会损人利己,但该研究提醒人们过度依赖它可能既会损人也不利己.这对树立"靠谁不如靠自己"的求职观和激活人才、人尽其才具有重要启示.
An Analysis of the Impact of Social Capital on Wages——From the Perspective of Diminished Job Search Motivation
It is generally believed that social capital is beneficial in increasing job seekers'income levels during the job search process.However,this paper based on data from the China General Social Survey(CGSS)reveals a contrary conclusion:on average,those who rely on connections to find jobs earn nearly 10%less than those who find jobs on their own.Further mechanism analysis suggests that social capital can weaken people's job search efforts,thereby limiting the potential matching opportunities between human capital and job vacancies,and reducing the level of return on human capital.While traditional studies often argue that the social capital network effect benefits oneself at the expense of others,this paper cautions that over-reliance on social capital may harm others and oneself as well.This has important implications for fostering the job-seeking mindset of"relying on oneself rather than others"and for maximizing talent and ensuring that everyone's abilities are fully utilized.
