Optimization of aerobic growth conditions of a Stutzerimonas stutzeri agent and its partial denitrification performance
Although partial denitrification is one of the hotspots in the researchfield of biological nitrogen removal technology, the study on the microbial agent for partial denitrification is still scarce. In this paper,a strain of Stutzerimonas stutzeri(also known as Pseudomonas stutzeri)WH-01 with both heterotrophic ammonia-oxidation ability and partial denitrification ability was isolated from the activated sludge of a sewage treatment plant.Through the single factor optimization experiments, the optimization of aerobic growth conditions of the WH-01 agent under aerobic condition were determined as:300 mg·L-1 ammonia nitrogen as nitrogen source,1 500 mg·L-1 glucose as carbon source, culture temperature of 35 ℃ and initial pH of 8.0.When using sodium acetate as the carbon source, although WH-01 agent had the ability of full denitrification,it conducted partial denitrification more preferentially with the nitrite accumulation efficiency of 81%in culture medium and 97%in actual sewage. This study indicated that WH-01 bactericide had the potential of engineering application.
