MECHANISM AND STRATEGIES FOR RESILIENT RURAL DEVELOP-MENT THROUGH FESTIVALS AND SPECIAL EVENTS(FSES):A"PRESSURE-STATE-RESPONSE"MODEL ANALYSIS OF THE 19TH ASIAN GAMES
Festivals and Special Events(FSEs),as a catalyst for rural transformation, carry inherent risks of vulnerability. We use the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games as a case study to apply the"pressure-state-response"model to assess the impact of FSEs on rural development, identifying challenges and opportunities. It explores the dynamic relationship between FSEs and rural development, revealing how the interaction between FSEs and rural conditions can lead to both preparatory actions and post-event con-sequences,which will in turn influence FSEs.We propose resilience-building strategies for rural development through FSEs,such as comprehensive planning across the event lifecycle, integration of local identity, and a multi-stakeholder operations management mechanism. These strategies aim to establish general principles and practical methods for rural development in the context of FSEs.
