Effect of Chain Extension Coefficient on the Mechanical Properties of PUE
A series of polyurethane elastomer(PUE)samples were prepared by prepolymerization method using polyoxypropylene glycol(PPG),p-phenylene diisocyanate(PPDI)and chain extender 1,4-butanediol(BDO)as raw materials. The effects of chain extension coefficient(f value)on mechanical properties, thermal properties and low-temperature properties of PUE were studied. The results showed that the tensile strength, tear strength and hardness first increased and then decreased when f value increased from 0.95 to 1.07.When the f value was 0.98,the mechanical properties of the material were the best at room temperature and 100℃ high temperatures. The low-temperature resistance of the material would decreased with f value increasing.
