APPLICATION OF METABOLIC AND BARIATRIC SURGERY IN PATIENTS WITH NON-ALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(nonalcoholic fatty liver disease,NAFLD)is a chronic liver disease closely related to the metabolic syndrome. To date,NAFLD has become the most common chronic liver disease in the world, seriously en-dangering human health and causing a huge social burden.Studies have found that metabolic and bariatric surgery can signifi-cantly improve hepatic steatosis and inflammation in patients, but it is not formally approved for the treatment of NAFLD.The exact mechanism of metabolic and bariatric surgery for NAFLD is still unclear, and the surgery is a very worthwhile treatment to be con-sidered in the case of unsatisfactory lifestyle modification and drug treatment. In China, there are fewer reports related to metabolic and bariatric surgery for NAFLD,so this article reviews its clinical effectiveness, complications and possible mechanisms of action.
