Design of High Frequency Microwave Amplifier for Shipborne Radar Based on GaN
The development of GaN technology has provided the possibility to broaden the available range of radar. An amplifier for active electronic scanning array(AESA)radar is introduced. For design purposes, the improved Steve Cripps design method is first used to design the impedance of the power amplifier, then a reference hardware design method is given, and finally the time-domain and the frequency-domain simulations are performed. The experimental results show that the de-veloped amplifier achieved an output power of over 9 W at a maximum efficiency of 57%in 9.5 GHz,and the small signal gain is over 11 dB in the frequency range of 9~10 GHz.
