Analysis on Graceful Degradation of Active Phased Array for Electronic Warfare
The active phased array of electronic warfare usually consists of tens to hundreds of array elements, which means that active channels with the same number are needed to support the nor-mal operation of active phased arrays. Therefore, the fault array elements will inevitably affect the performance of active phased arrays.Through reasonable reliability design, the active phased array can still ensure the efficient operation in the presence of faulty array elements, that is to say,the functions are graceful degradation. This paper firstly discusses the reliability modeling method of the active phased arry, then analyzes the performance degradation of the active phased array under different failure rates and fault distributions based on the array theory, and finally discusses the quantitative relationship between the array fault and the interference range as well as the detection range.Through the above analysis,on the one hand, the reliability requirements can be rapidly eval-uated according to graceful degradation standards,so that the active phased array can still operate normally under graceful degradation conditions allowed by system, and the final life will not be af-fected;on the other hand,in practical use,the self-test information of array can be used to quickly evaluate the performance degradation situation, which has good practical significance.
