Development of Ka-band 160 W Solid-state Power Amplifier
In view of the high throughput and wide coverage of Ka-band satellite communication system,a Ka-band 160 W solid-state power amplifier is introduced. The power amplifier adopts the waveguide-microstrip dual-probe design and the wave-guide power distribution/synthesizer based on the micro-strip magic T.The eight GaN power amplifier chips are combined to finally realize the continuous wave output power signal of more than 160 W in the 27.0 GHz~31.0 GHz operating frequency band.Using the analog predistorter, the third-order intermodulation index of the whole machine is better than-31dBc,and the index is excellent. The output waveguide of the power amplifier adopts the standard WR-28 interface, with perfect monitoring and protection mea-sures,high reliability, and is suitable for satellite communication and other launch systems.
