The Design Continuation and Evolution of Chinese Porcelain after the Western Transmission from 17th to 19th Century:Taking"Willow Pattern as an Example
In the 17th and 18th centuries,Chinese artifacts swept Western Europe, especially porcelain, which gave birth to the new patterns in West Europe for more than a century. In the 19th century, the Chinese fever waned, but the Chinese style design still survived in porcelain, and these design elements were particularly intuitive in the porcelain decoration. This paper takes Willow Pattern, which was popular in Western Europe in the 19th century,as the research object.Under the background of the time when Chinese porcelain spread to the west and Chinese style coexisted in the west and western style coexisted in the east, this paper explores the cultural intercommunion reflected in Willow Pattern from three aspects:the motivation of image formation, the evolution of Chinese elements and the narrative generation of images,so as to provide design references for the current cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and the West.
