A Study on the Generating Path of Tactile Experience in Architecture from the Perspective of the Embodied Turn:Taking Bruder Klaus Field Chapel as an Example
Architecture shows a tendency of disembodiment under the control of visual culture at present. As a kind of body perception, tactile sense takes the lead in participating in the embodied turn of architectural design under the influence of Mind-Body Monism presented by Phenomenology. From the haptic aesthetics in philosophy to the atmosphere aesthetics in architecture, there is a clue about theoretical basis of haptics in architecture, which is reflected in the ability of tactile sense to recognize the substantiality, temporality and spatiality of object.Based on theoretical analysis, the study explains generating path of haptic experience in architecture from the aspects of construction and decoration under the case study of the Bruder Klaus Field Chapel designed by Peter Zumthor. It is found that architectural design innovation based on the"reflexivity"of tactile sense breaks through the limitations of dualism established by visual sense, and is a rewarding attempt to promote a healthy sensory culture of architecture.
