Research on Design Strategies of Small Hotels in Urban Villages:a Case Study of Small Hotels in Guangzhou Nanting Village
The transformation of urban villages is the key process to promote urbanization, but the commercial model of urban villages, such as small hotels, has not received enough attention. This study selects the small hotels in Nanting Village,Guangzhou,as the research object, exploring how to improve the quality of hotel living under the condition of limited resources. In this study, the key factors affecting the living quality, namely ventilation, daylighting and functional facilities, were discussed by means of the Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA),method. These problems stem from the tight spacing of the buildings and the limited size of the rooms. To meet these challenges, the study proposes adaptive design strategies, namely"less for more"and"retreat for advance",and finally evaluates their effectiveness, providing new ideas for improving the living quality of small hotels in urban villages.
