Overview of Mental Health Services for Primary and Secondary School Students in France
Mental health problems among French primary and secondary school students are becoming increasingly serious,with high detection rates for depression,anxiety,and addictive behaviors,which has attracted widespread attention from the government and society.To promote the development of students,mental health,the French government,schools,social organizations,and families have made joint efforts and cooperated to build a comprehensive network of services to protect the mental health of primary and secondary school students.The government plays a leading role in formulating relevant policies and courses of action.Schools conduct mental health education courses and activities and provide mental health counseling and diagnostic services as well.Social organizations provide various kinds of counseling and therapeutic services for young people and their family members,as well as publicity campaigns on the de-stigmatization of mental illnesses.The close connection between these main bodies makes mental health services comprehensive and coherent.Information technology is also used to provide abundant resources and online support for mental health services in France.This study demonstrates the French experience in building a comprehensive mental health service network,which helps us understand the division of labor and cooperation among the various actors of mental health services in France.It provides insights for the Chinese government,schools,and social organizations regarding how to play their roles more effectively.
