Stealth Assessment:A New Assessment Method in the Digital Age
The rapid advancement of information technology has made it feasible to integrate assessment activities seamlessly into teaching practices. The concept of Stealth assessment, characterized by its immediacy, dynamism, and subtlety, represents an evidence-based assessment approach. It primarily involves two components:an evidence-based assessment design and formative assessment with feedback. Both components are crucial for facilitating effective learning. This approach responds to the rapid societal changes, ongoing demands for educational reform, and the principles of learning assessment theory.According to the Evidence-Centered Design theory, the design of Stealth assessment should also incorporate Bayesian network tools to ensure robustness and accuracy. This paper uses Taiga Park in the United States as a case study to explore the comprehensive design process and implementation of this assessment method. It discusses potential challenges and offers practical guidance for educators on how to navigate these issues, aiming to provide valuable insights for education evaluators and frontline teachers.
