Research on the Implementation of Science Education in Canada Basic Education Stage
Science education is a powerful way to cultivate innovative talent in the field of science and technology.Canada places significant emphasis on its science education and has garnered considerable experience in this area.This paper systematically introduces science education in Canada from four key dimensions:the ecosystem of science education,science curricula,science teacher education,and the evaluation of science education.In the establishment of its science education ecosystem,the Canada government and various social forces have jointly participated and paid attention to multiple dimensions such as science education research,science teachers'associations,the construction of journals,the training of doctoral students and so on.In the design and implementation of science curriculum,Canada emphasizes integrated science curriculum and focuses on crosscutting concepts.In the training of pre-service science teachers,Canada mainly adopts three models:direct,consecutive,and concurrent approaches.For in-service teacher development,Canada adopts diverse methods,including learning communities,seminars,academic conferences,and professional development programs,and constrained by policy frameworks.Regarding teacher qualification certificate,Canada implements both permanent and temporary accreditation systems.In the evaluation of students'learning in science,Canada has established a two-level system comprising national monitoring and provincial-level evaluations.
