Clinical Efficacy of Acupotomy Therapy for Early Lumbago and Backache after Percutaneous Kyphoplasty
Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of acupotomy therapy on early lumbago and backache after percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP)for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures(OVCF).Methods A total of 65 patients who underwent PKP for OVCF at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medicine University from July 2021 to January 2023 were included in the study. The patients were divided into a control group and an acupotomy group according to their treatment decisions, with 30 cases in the control group and 35 cases in the acupotomy group. The control group took Celecoxib Capsules orally after surgery, while the acupotomy group received acupotomy therapy at the positive tenderness points on the back on the basis of the control group. The visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score,Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)scores, and 36-Item Short-Form(SF-36)scores of the two groups were compared before treatment, one week after treatment, and two weeks after treatment. Results The VAS,JOA,and SF-36 scores of both groups were significantly improved at one week and two weeks after treatment(P<0.05).The VAS score of the acupotomy group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.01),and the JOA and SF-36 scores of the acupotomy group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion Acupotomy therapy can significantly alleviate the symptoms of early lumbago and backache after PKP and has good clinical efficacy. It greatly improves patients'satisfaction after surgery and is a good clinical treatment method.
