Clinical Observation on Auricular Point Pressure in Relieving Pain after Ambulatory Surgery for Perianal Abscesses
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of auricular point pressure on the pain after perianal abscess surgery. Methods Eighty-six patients with perianal abscesses treated with open drainage in ambulatory surgery in the anorectal emergency department of Beijing Rectum Hospital(Beijing Er Long Lu Hospital)from January 1 to September 30 in 2023 were enrolled in this study and randomized into a control group and a treatment group. The control group received basic therapies such as postoperative anti-infection therapy. The treatment group received auricular point pressure in addition to the basic therapies in the control group.6 h and on days 1,2,5 after surgery, the patients were followed up by telephone or came back to the hospital for postoperative review and dressing change. The visual analog scale(VAS)scores at different time points were compared between the two groups, and the use of painkillers was recorded. Results The VAS scores at the time point of 6 h and on days 1,2,and 5 after surgery were lower than that before surgery in both groups. Moreover, the VAS scores of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group at the time point of 6 h and on days 1 and 2 after surgery(P<0.05).Conclusion Auricular point pressure can relieve postoperative pain in the patients undergoing ambulatory surgery for perianal abscesses.
