Theoretical Discussion and Case Illustration on the Treatment of Acute Urinary Retention by Umbilical Needling Therapy
Acute urinary retention characterized by acute onset and recurrent infections seriously affects patients'quality of life and causes negative psychological emotions.Western medical therapies for this condition focus on urethral catheterization,with low patient compliance.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)can regulate the overall body status while relieving patients'urinary retention symptoms,thus improving their quality of life to a certain extent.Umbilical needling therapy,as a unique TCM therapy,is praised for the few acupuncture points,easy operation,and mild adverse reactions.Moreover,it has unique efficacy in alleviating urinary obstruction and restoring the bladder function.This article analyzes the etiology and mechanism of acute urinary retention and the theoretical basis of umbilical needling therapy,and illustrates the treatment with a clinical case.
