Clinical Effect of Six-Character Breathing Exercise on Patients with Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of six-character breathing exercise on the patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD).Methods Sixty patients with AECOPD treated in a tertiary hospital in Guizhou Province from November 2019 to March 2020 were selected and assigned with the random number table method into pulmonary rehabilitation and control groups(n=30).The control group received conventional treatment, and the pulmonary rehabilitation group received six-character breathing exercise on the basis of the conventional treatment. The pulmonary functions, dyspnea score, and 6-minute walking distance were recorded before and after treatment and compared between the two groups. Results The dyspnea score and 6-minute walking distance showed differences between the two groups(P<0.05).The pulmonary rehabilitation group outperformed the control group in improving the pulmonary functions(P>0.05).Conclusion Early pulmonary rehabilitation with six-character breathing exercise cannot significantly improve the pulmonary functions of AECOPD patients, while it can relieve dyspnea to a certain extent and improve the exercise tolerance, providing a choice of rehabilitation for the patients with AECOPD.
