Study on the Influence of Baduanjin on the Physical and Mental Health of Medical Students Based on the Theory of"Prevention before Disease Onset and Development Control of Existing Disease"
Objective To explore the influence of Baduanjin,a traditional health care exercise of traditional Chinese medicine,on the state of mind and body function of medical students and its intervention effect by using the theory of"prevention before disease onset and development control of existing disease".Methods Through a questionnaire regarding the state of mind and a physical fitness test,62 medical students were selected and divided into a Baduanjin group and a control group by the simple random sampling principle, with 31 students in each group. The experimental intervention lasted for 12 weeks. Results After intervention, the total of motional disturb(TMD)of male and female students in the Baduanjin group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The negative mood score in the Baduanjin group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.01),and the positive mood score in the Baduanjin group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.01).Compared with those in the control group, the vital capacity and the number of sit-and-reaches of students in the Baduanjin group were significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with those in the control group, the 800 m running time of female students in the Baduanjin group was significantly reduced(P<0.01),and the number of sit-ups of female students was significantly increased(P<0.01),with other physical fitness indexes also significantly improved Conclusion Baduanjin can improve the state of mind of medical students, promote positive mentality, and relieve negative mentality. It can also improve the physical fitness of medical students in different degrees, especially for lung capacity, muscle fitness, and flexibility fitness.
