Objective To optimize the best extraction technology of Radix Polygoni Multiflori in Runchang Tongle Pill. Method Using four indexes including the ethanol concentration, solvent volume, extraction time and extraction times as the investigation factors, the content of bound anthraquinones and 80% ethanol soluble extraction was taken as the index for investigation, and then orthogonal design was adopted to select out the best alcohol extraction process. Result The best processing condition was as follows: adding 8 times amount of 60% ethanol and refluxing three times, 1.5 h each time. Conclusion extraction of Radix Polygon/ Multiflori by this method was reasonable, stable and feasible.
