Allelopathic Effects of Meconopsis punicea Maxim.on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Rape
Objective To explore the allelopathic effects of the shell and rhizosphere soil of Meconopsis punicea on rape seeds. Methods Using petri dish bioassays, analyze water extracts from the shell and rhizosphere soil of Meconopsis punicea on the germination rate, germination potential, germination index, seedling length, root length, and individual plant weight of rape seeds. Results When the concentration of the water extract from the shell of Meconopsis punicea was less than 0.050 g/mL and the concentration of the water extract from the rhizosphere soil was less than 0.250 g/mL,the comprehensive allelopathic effect index was positive, indicating a promoting effect, the concentration of shell water extract was greater than 0.100 g/mL and the concentration of rhizosphere soil water extract was greater than 0.500 g/mL,the comprehensive allelopathic effect index was negative, indicating an inhibitory effect, and the inhibitory effect increases with the increase of water extract concentration. Conclusion The water extract from the shell and rhizosphere soil of Meconopsis punicea has a dual effect of low concentration promotion and high concentration inhibition on rape seeds, the liquefaction effect of the water extract from the shell of Meconopsis punicea is stronger than that of the water extract from the rhizosphere soil.
